Flexible working increases productivity EHRC reports |
|
Flexible working is vital if businesses are to survive in today's economy.
That is according to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), which has said that flexibility can help businesses to deal with difficult economic times.
In a statement the EHRC said it was disappointed that some people believed flexibility was a "burden" to businesses, rather than something which could offer businesses opportunities.
Nicola Brewer, EHRC chief executive, said: "Genuinely flexible working is part of the solution, not part of the problem. Flexibility provides business opportunities to deal with turbulent times."
The EHRC was commenting in light of a survey it had commissioned which revealed high levels of demand for flexible working.
Some 83 per cent of fathers and 86 per cent of mothers said they would like to have some sort of flexible working, a survey conducted by Mumsnet and Dad Info revealed.
New business secretary Lord Mandelson announced recently that his department would re-examine regulations relating to extending the right to flexible working shifts. |
