04/02/2010 Investors 'are returning to commercial property market' |
|
Investment in the commercial property sector across the UK and Europe is set to increase over the coming year, according to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics).
The body has predicted that activity in commercial real estate is taking place due to a general sense that prices and values have reached their lowest point.
Oliver Gilmartin, senior economist at Rics, said this was particularly the case in Britain, where a "rapid re-pricing" of property is currently occurring due to growing confidence.
The expert stated that consulting a commercial property solicitor over a potential purchase at this point could prove to be a sound investment in around ten or 15 years.
He said: "When you compare it to other asset classes like cash and bonds, there is quite an attractive yield premium historically."
This follows a report from the Urban Land Institute and PricewaterhouseCoopers earlier this week which suggested that London has become the most attractive location in the continent for new acquisition opportunities.
