08/09/2009 Business confidence 'lower in south' |
|
A new survey has indicated that business confidence has been on the slide around London and the south-east, in contrast with the rest of the country.
The August Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets Business Barometer found that the balance of firms expecting activity to rise over the next year improved by two per cent to an overall rep level of plus 32 per cent.
However, there were regional variations in sentiment, with the balance in the south falling by ten per cent to plus 28 per cent, in contrast with improvements in the midlands and north.
Such a situation may suggest that more firms in places such as Ealing and Westminster could be facing difficulties, which could prompt some to seek the help of business lawyers.
Manufacturing firms may be among those struggling, with head of programmes for the Manufacturing Institute Adam Buckley saying this week that recovery in the sector will be "piecemeal and not consistent across the industry".
