Laws on tax and regulation need to be changed to help support the establishment of more new firms, a small business lobbying group has said.
Forum of Private Business spokesperson Phil McCabe remarked that while organisations like his can help support people starting up enterprises, there are legal changes the government could effect to make things easier.
He stated: "We need a more simplified, better tax system and a legislative system that's more conducive to business success."
Such moves will make it easier for people to start a business, he argued.
Those who are looking to setup or develop a firm within existing legal frameworks may wish to speak to business lawyers about how various regulations affect them.
A survey by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants last month found that 60 per cent of Britons would like to be self employed.
This percentage rose to three quarters for those aged between 25 and 34.
