16/03/2009 Divorce fair begins |
|
Britain's first ever divorce fair has opened in Brighton, East Sussex, offering a range of services to those splitting up.
Those attending the Starting Over Show are able to access a number of facilities, including legal advice on how to deal with the breakup of a marriage or civil partnership.
Other offerings include counselling, reflexology and marriage ending ceremonies.
It follows the first ever such fair, which was held in Vienna in 2007 and could interest those who are among the 140,000 divorcing UK couples each year.
Legal advice may be important and valuable for those who are facing the end of their marriage.
It has recently been stated that the divorce rate in Britain is rising due to the strain of the recession.
Speaking recently to the International Herald Tribune, London-based divorce lawyer Vanessa Lloyd Platt said: "A recession either makes couples pull together for better or worse, or the money goes out the door and so does the spouse. I am seeing much more of the latter."
