05/01/2010 Legal expert warns against rushing into divorce |

An expert on family law has warned people against rushing into divorce proceedings in the new year.
Writing in the Liverpool Daily Post, Hazel Roberts suggested that a large number of people make the decision to end their marriage at this time of year in a knee-jerk reaction to the strains of family life over the Christmas period.
She stated: "It is a worrying new trend that so many couples have hit the panic button before the turkey leftovers have even been eaten."
It would be better for people to wait until life has returned to normal before making a decision.
Those needing advice on the issue at this time may wish to speak to a family lawyer.
Yesterday (January 4th) was noted as being the day of the year when the largest number of divorce filings are issued.
As well as being caused by strains over Christmas, the situation has also been put down to couples not letting their children know they are splitting until after the festive period.
