Drinks firm Diageo is facing possible industrial action in a dispute over redundancy terms.
The company has announced it is closing two centres in Scotland - a bottling plant in Kilmarnock and a distillery in Glasgow - with the loss of 900 jobs, the BBC reports.
Trade union Unite said that the redundancy terms on offer are not fair and has threatened strike action unless its demands for better settlements are met, with the two sides meeting at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service for talks on the matter.
While the Diageo issue concerns a large number of people represented by a trade union, some finding themselves losing their jobs with a small redundancy package may not have others able to negotiate for them.
Such workers in the capital might benefit from speaking to employment lawyers in London about their situation.
This week has seen some redundant employees faced with a different problem, after it was found that several former workers at Wiltshire County Council were overpaid by the authority and have been asked to hand some of the money back.
