Banks 'most guilty' over gender pay gap
The financial services industry is the biggest culprit when it comes to not paying men and women equally, it has been stated.

President of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs Tatjana Hine said banking is "the worst that there is regarding differentials between men and women".

She explained that the sector has traditionally been "male dominated" and often the way to get ahead and earn more money is by working long hours, something that is difficult for women raising a family.

Change is taking time, partly because attention has been focused on the financial crisis of late, Ms Hine noted.

Those living in the capital who are concerned that they are being discriminated against when it comes to pay may wish to consult with employment lawyers in London.

Ms Hine's comments came after a survey by the Equality and Human Rights Commission found that the gender gap in the banking sector is 39 per cent for basic pay and 80 per cent for bonuses - one of the biggest gaps in any UK industry.
