Campaign 'will create new working rights for autism sufferers'
A campaign to ensure greater working rights are provided for people with autism is being backed by a member of parliament.

John Baron MP is supporting a fight by the National Autistic Society (NAS) to provide more rights for those with the condition, following the passing of the Autism Bill to ensure service provision takes into account the needs of those with a spectrum disorder.

This would include greater working rights, something that would put autistic people on a par with those who have disabilities currently recognised in law that must be accommodated.

Mr Baron said: "People with autism have a great deal to offer and we know that many want to work but are unable to get the help and support they need to fulfil their potential."

Those living in the capital who do have a disability and believe they are not being treated according to their rights may wish to speak to employment lawyers in London about the matter.

The 'don't write me off' campaign that Mr Baron is supporting is also backed by a number of other MPs, NAS has stated.

It listed Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Work and Pensions in Scotland John Barrett and SDLP leader Mark Durkan among those seeking to further the cause.
