13/10/2008 Companies need to 'harmonise benefits' |
|
Benefit schemes offered by businesses need to be assessed in the current economic climate as mergers and acquisitions become increasingly commonplace.
That is according to Foster Denovo, an independent financial advisor, which has said that because companies often have very "different cultures", it is "massively" important to balance the benefits employees receive.
Graham Tinney, senior partner at Foster Denovo, explained that it is no good if two employees who once worked for different companies but now share the same employer are being given vastly different benefits.
Mr Tinney explained: "You have to calculate the difference and give each employee an allowance so they can harmonise their benefits."
Employee fears about cuts to benefits schemes are unfounded, according to a survey by advisory and management service, Hymnas Robertson, entitled 'Trends in Employee Benefits in 2008'.
The survey revealed that while a third of employees expected that their benefits package would be cut, over 95 per cent of employers said they had no plans to make such cuts and 45 per cent said they were planning to enhance benefits. |
