05/11/2009 Court ruling protects climate change beliefs |

Environmentalist beliefs must be accommodated in employment rights law, it has been ruled.
The appeal court judgment decided that former executive with property company Grainger Tim Nicholson was unfairly made redundant due to his views on green issues, having questioned his company's adherence to its environmental policies.
Such a ruling means that environmentalist views are given the same status as religious or philosophical beliefs.
Mr Nicholson's criticism of the company had included dissenting against an incident in which chief executive Rupert Dickinson left his blackberry in London when going to Ireland on a business trip and had somebody flown over with it.
Those who believe they have been discriminated against in the workplace may wish to speak to employment lawyers in London about the issue.
The number of disputes arising from dismissals has risen since the recession started, according to figures from the Advisory Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas).
In its annual report in July, Acas said that in 2008-09 it dealt with 43,028 cases of unfair dismissal, compared with 33,352 the previous year.
