People living and working in Ealing and Westminster are more likely to have suffered from the recession than those living in Brent, a new study has revealed.
Research by price comparison site uSwitch.com found Brent fared better than any other part of the country, with a 12 per cent rise in average earnings and lower increases in unemployment, followed by Enfield in second place.
Swindon in Wiltshire was hit hardest, suffering a 197 per cent rise in jobseeker's allowance claimants in the last year as the Honda factory in the town has cut back production.
Those who are affected by redundancy and believe their case was not handled correctly by their employer may wish to seek legal advice on the matter.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics last week revealed that the UK economy contracted by 1.9 per cent in the first quarter of this year.
