The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has published its plans for the 2009-10 year, which includes tackling a range of issues that could impact on employment law. Among the priorities of the body is support for the new equalities bill, which is currently passing through parliament. Other areas where the body will be instigating studies to establish where discrimination exists include issues such as homophobic and disability-related hate crimes, hostility against racial and faith groups and gender bias in the financial services sector. Those living in the capital who believe they may have a legal case against an employer on these or other grounds may wish to see employment lawyers in London about the matter. Last week the EHRC announced a public consultation into the issue of the gender pay gap. This intends to find out how employers with 250 or more people on their payroll can measure the gap and report on it.
