19/05/2009 Firm warns of redundancies |
|
The spate of redundancies in the recession is to continue as consultancy firm White Young Green has announced that 324 jobs are to go. Most of the employees of the company are UK based, including in London, with nearly 3,000 people working across the country. Before Christmas 253 jobs were shed and the firm has said it was facing "challenging" trading conditions. Those being made redundant from their jobs may wish to take legal advice to check the procedures are being followed correctly and fairly by their employer. A ruling last week may provide extra protection for those who have been working in their current jobs for a long time. The court of appeal judged that Rolls Royce can not discount as discriminatory the practice of taking into account length of service, something the carmaker had said was unfair on younger workers. As a result, older employees may have better protection against losing their livelihoods.
