Experts have predicted that the rate of unemployment in the UK will show another rise when government figures are released later today.
Office for National Statistics data is likely to reveal a rise of over 120,000 people in the claimant count for unemployment benefits during March, following a jump of 138,000 in February.
Such news will come hours before chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling reveals his Budget, which might contain measures aimed at protecting and creating jobs.
However, many people may still go on being made redundant over the coming months, a situation that could see some employers failing to adhere to the correct legal procedures.
Those concerned that this may be the case and that they could seek redress might wish to seek legal advice on the matter.
An Adfero poll carried out this week found that 90 per cent of people believe helping the unemployed should be a priority for Mr Darling in the Budget.
