|
Apprentices could be eligible for the minimum wage under new proposals revealed by the government.
The low pay commission has been asked by employment minister Pat McFadden to consider an extension of the current legislation to include those serving apprenticeships.
At present those aged under 19 or who are in the first year of an apprenticeship are not covered for by the minimum wage law.
Those living in the capital who have reason to believe they are entitled to the minimum wage but are receiving less may wish to seek advice from employment lawyers in London.
Last month saw the announcement that the minimum wage will increase from October 22nd this year.
the hourly figure for those aged 22 or over will rise from £5.73 to £5.80, while those aged 18-21 will see an increase from £4.77 to £4.83.
Workers aged 16 to 17 will get a 4p increment to £3.57.
