07/09/2009 Moving job locations 'perfectly legal' at low-cost airline |

Low-cost airlines like easyJet will increasingly have British workers being obliged to move around to other airports to keep their jobs, it has been stated.
The budget carrier is axing services from two UK airports and transferring these elsewhere, a move that prompted regional industrial organiser for trade union Unite Kevin Hall to describe the situation as "absolutely shocking".
Noting that this will mean people retaining their jobs provided they follow the planes to their new bases, he remarked: "In time, you'll have a unique situation where you have an easyJet cabin crew who work in Germany, working on British contracts and employment."
This will be legal under their contract terms, he stated.
Those working in the capital who may have to move job location could wish to consult with employment lawyers in London to see if they are contractually obliged to do so.
Some of the cuts are taking place at Luton Airport - where many people living in London may work - with easyJet blaming a rise in operating costs there in the past three years for the move.
