|
A number of women in senior-level positions are opposed to the introduction of positive discrimination, it has emerged.
According to People Management, many females do not want firms to be able to choose women over equally-qualified male candidates in order to increase the number of women sitting on company boards.
The legislation many result in employment lawyers in London seeing a rise in the number of queries relating to the issue of gender in the workplace.
It is being introduced as part of the current Equality Bill, which was presented to the House of Commons in April of this year.
Speaking to the news source, vice-president of organisation development at Research on Motion Tess Field said that employees need to develop their own skills if they want to take a leadership position.
"I think that the opportunities should be there regardless of sex and increasingly that is the case," she remarked.
