A former prison officer has launched a constructive unfair dismissal claim after stating she was forced to resign from her post.
Amitjo Kajla left her role at Brinsford Young Offenders' institution in Staffordshire after claiming she was labelled "too sexy", leading to stress and insomnia that compelled her to leave.
The tribunal heard testimony from the service that she had not been dressing appropriately according to the service's code, leading to comments from inmates, with whom she was also accused of being too sociable.
Ms Kajla responded to the dress code claims by stating: "I was taught by my parents to take a pride in my appearance."
Those working in the capital who have resigned from a post in difficult circumstances may wish to speak to employment lawyers in London about whether they might be able to seek redress.
Earlier this week a member of the Metropolitan Police, Hina Parekh, gave evidence in the case of a fellow Asian officer in a discrimination case, claiming she had encountered colleagues being "completely insensitive" to her culture, religion and situation as a single parent, the Evening Standard reported.
