The number of redundancies among employees at the Royal Bank of Scotland is not certain, its chief executive Gordon Pell has admitted. Last week Mr Pell told MPs that there would be around 2,700 job cuts in the UK, including 260 in Scotland. However, the chairman of the Scottish affairs committee Mohammed Sarwar said the figure was "uncertain" and wrote to Mr Pell seeking clarification, the BBC reports. Mr Pell admitted the figure could be incorrect and said: "I could not be specific because this number will be subject to change as the process continues." Those facing the possibility of redundancy in a workplace where the number that will be laid off is uncertain may wish to seek legal advice. Another UK company that is shedding jobs is Bristow Helicopters. It is to cut posts in Aberdeen and Redhill due to a drop in demand for its services to offshore oil and gas firms.
