|
British employees of mobile phone company Nokia could be facing redundancy after the firm revealed that it is to reduce its worldwide workforce by 1,700.
The firm said that the most losses would be in Finland, but that the US and Britain would also be hit, something that could lead to hundreds of jobs at the UK head office in Farnborough being at risk.
People affected by the Nokia redundancies or those facing the loss of employment elsewhere may wish to take legal advice concerning their situation.
The issue of compulsory redundancy has led to BBC workers voting to strike.
Journalists are scheduled to undertake industrial action on April 3rd and 9th following a ballot by the National Union of Journalists, in which 77 per cent voted in favour of the action.
The union said the verdict showed its members' determination not to accept compulsory redundancies.
