A taxi firm has lost a legal case for sex discrimination after paying a female employee, whose husband also worked for the company.
Norfolk Taxi Network paid Kristine Macnab-Grieve less than husband George and as a result of legal action she was awarded £9,000 in compensation, the Daily Mail reports.
Mrs McNab-Grieve told the paper: "It's possible they thought I didn't know what my husband was earning but we've been married 34 years and have no secrets."
She added that the couple had known about the issue for three years before taking up the case, stating that it was important to emphasise that "I should have been treated the same way as male drivers".
Mrs McNab's compensation also included an unfair dismissal payment as she took the matter to a tribunal following her redundancy - an event that occurred seven months after she raised the issue of the pay discrepancy with the firm.
The Norfolk Taxi Network runs a fleet of nearly 1,000 vehicles around the county.
