Warning over employee stress issues
Many employees face difficulties such as high stress levels after surviving the threat of redundancy, it has been warned.

While a large number of people have managed to stay in their jobs after colleagues have lost theirs, the Advisory Conciliation and Arbritartion Service (Acas) has suggested that those remaining can suffer from a mixture of guilt at surviving and fear of the future.

Head of good practice services at Acas Gill Trevelyan said: "In a downturn employers often focus on staff who are being made redundant but it is important to recognise and deal with the stress that redundancy survivors are under."

Ms Trevelyan warned that bullying by stressed managers can be part of the problem, something that may affect those working in the capital.

Such employees may wish to see employment lawyers in London if they are suffering in this way.

In May this year Investor in People noted that a recent YouGov survey had shown that 38 per cent of people felt stress levels in the workplace had risen over the previous 12 months.
