25/09/2009 Welcome for new government work rights hotline |
|
The new information line announced by the government to provide help on rights issues to employees and employers alike has been welcomed by working practices enhancement body WorkWise UK.
Commenting on the launch, chief executive of the body Phil Flaxton said the "key" is ensuring that such information is used, be it from information lines or websites.
This is particularly important for "companies who are uncertain of their ground in terms of employment law", he remarked.
Where firms have failed to do this and breaches have occurred, workers may wish to speak about what action they can take with employment lawyers in London.
The possibility that companies may fail to uphold employment rights is a widespread concern, the Forum for Private Business recently revealed.
It revealed that a third of the calls to its helpline in August were about employment matters.
Of these, 14 per cent concerned the issue of redundancy.
