|
NHS workers are to get 'passports' advising them of their rights, it has been revealed.
The document has been drawn up by the Social Partnership Forum after consultations with unions and the government, with its details outlining rights concerning issues such as pay, conditions and pensions.
It is aimed at reducing uncertainty over such issues and making sure employees know if they are being treated incorrectly.
Lead negotiator for trade union Unison Mike Jackson commented: "Knowledge is the key to ensuring those rights are embedded by commissioners and respected by future employers."
Those working in the health service who feel they may not be getting the correct treatment might wish to speak to employment lawyers in London about the matter.
Last month, associate director of the Work Foundation Stephen Overell told Personnel Today that human resources departments should do more to make employees aware of their rights.
He made this suggestion in response to the findings of a survey by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform showing that 22 per cent of workers feel they do not know their rights.
