04/01/2010 Peak day for divorces arrives |
|
Today (January 4th) is the day of the year when the most divorce petitions are filed, it has been revealed.
Such a situation has been attributed to couples not wanting to tell their children they are getting divorced before or during Christmas, deferring the bad news until the first working day of the new year instead.
The strain of spending so much time together is also frequently cited as the factor that finally breaks relationships that are in difficulty, experts have stated.
Some may also regard the new year as a time for fresh beginnings and use this to attempt to make changes in their personal life.
Those in such situations might wish to speak to a divorce lawyer about the next step forward in the process and the implications for family members such as children.
Recent research by internet service internet service Divorce-Online.com found that social networking sites are now cited in a fifth of divorce cases, suggesting the internet is used to arrange illicit meetings.
