31/07/2008 Pre-nups gaining in popularity |

Pre-nuptial agreements are the "sensible, grown up approach" to marriage, according to an independent financial advisor.
Whilst the amount of people getting divorced is on the increase, so too are the number of people who are signing pre-nuptial agreements.
Kevin Tooze, managing director of Equity, has suggested that it is much easier if things do go wrong to have "thought it through in the cold light of day not in the anger of divorce".
Mr Tooze explained how a pre-nup can make designating assets a lot simpler and less stressful than if the issues had not been considered at the outset.
Research conducted by Scottish Widows revealed that over half of unmarried people would consider signing a pre-nuptial agreement before they got married.
The survey also revealed that nine in ten of those who are already married or have been married in the past admitted that a getting a pre-nuptial agreement "didnt even occur to them". |
