Bank employee wins personal injury claim |

A bank employee who broke an ankle falling off a step has won a personal injury claim after her employer accepted it had failed to meet its health and safety obligations in the workplace.
Jackie Edwards, a 48-year-old Lloyds TSB worker, suffered the injury on the stairs when carrying metal boxes between the safe and the till at the bank's branch at Benfleet in Essex, leading to a six-month absence from work.
After starting legal proceedings through her union Unite, Ms Edwards secured a payout when Lloyds TSB agreed to compensate her to the tune of £9,000.
Those who could have a personal injury claim may wish to see a solicitor to discover if they can get compensation.
Workers who have suffered osteoarthritis of the knee - commonly known to affect miners - will be able to pursue such claims after a government decision this week to add the condition to the list of those for which compensation can be paid.
