In relation to hearing damage from headphones "the manufacturers responsibility depends on the first court case when somebody gets tinnitus", the Production Services Association (PSA) reports.
The PSA are a trade association of companies and individuals who aim to represent, improve, educate and develop technical production for live events.
Andy Lenthall, general manager of the PSA, suggested that hearing damage could occur at any time.
He explained: There has been, in Germany, court cases where people have been to concerts and come home with hearing damage from that single event. Who knows when the gates might open."
According to scientific opinion, five to ten per cent of those who listen to music through headphones risk permanent hearing loss. Those at risk would need to listen to a personal music player for over an hour per day every week at high volume settings for at least five years. |
