Legal changes damage contractor's confidence in government
Changes imposed by the government in recent years which have affected the way contractors operate have dampened the sector's support for the Labour party.

That is according to a new survey conducted for Brookson, which has revealed that almost 68 per cent of contractors would rather vote for the Conservatives in a general election.

Carried out by Shout99.com, the study revealed that just 1.8 per cent of respondents would re-elect the current government.

What's more, over 90 per cent of the 700 people questioned said that they feel as though they are valued less highly by the government than temporary workers with fewer qualifications than they have.

Commenting on the findings, Martin Hesketh, managing director of Brookson, said: "Contractors provide an invaluable source of highly skilled workers to the UK economy in important sectors such as aerospace, oil and gas, defence and nuclear energy.

"However, the Government appears to bracket them the same as office temps."

He went on to say that contractors are "fundamentally different" to temps and if the government wants to win back their support then it needs to recognise this.ADNFCR-1805-ID-18797260-ADNFCR
