13/11/2008 Accidental landlords 'returning to the sales market' |
|
The host of accidental landlords who let out properties they could not sell are returning to the sales market, it has emerged. After giving up on the prospect of riding out the slump, landlords are deciding to return to the market with more realistic valuations, according to Cluttons. The company claimed that this "shift" in sentiment of sellers will open up buying opportunities across London and the south-east. Landlord information and advice website Property Hawk recently warned accidental landlords may be unintentionally breaking the law due to ignorance of House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licensing laws, more than two years after they came in. Chris Horne, editor of the website, said that landlords can become confused with HMO licensing because it is covered by several aspects of the law - one related to planning legislation with the other coming in under the housing regulations.
