Landlords should act like "prudent business people" when it comes to assessing their residential property portfolios, the National Landlords Association chairman David Salusbury has said. Writing in UK Landlord, Mr Salusbury remarked: "Landlords need to review their property portfolios, look at how they find tenants, the facilities they provide, and whether they can make their rents more competitive." Those who can add to their stock should seek to do so as prices are currently low and the buy-to-let mortgage deals that are available are favourable, he added. Investors keen to buy up more property or make other changes to their portfolios may benefit from taking legal advice about various aspects of managing such undertakings. Changing demographic trends may be relevant to this, as it could guide landlords in the type of accommodation they should offer. Last week TV presenter and co-owner of Uber Interiors Melissa Porter said a significant part of the increase in one-person housholds in recent years has come from single female professionals.
