01/04/2009 Buy property now, investors advised |
|
Buying residential property is a good move in the present market, the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla) has said.
Arla operations manager Ian Potter stated that with prices and interest rates low investors should consider this, "provided they are not going to be overstretching themselves on their borrowing and that they have done sufficient market research in the area".
He advised that people should check out the viability of a location by establishing how many other purchasers are active in the area.
The comments come after Arla's first quarter 2009 survey showed that more of its members are buying property than selling it for the first time in two years.
Investors keen to make acquisitions may wish to take legal advice first.
Optimism about the buy-to-let market was also reflected in the latest quarterly survey by property portfolio managers Young Group, which showed increased buyer intentions and growing optimism that prices will start rising in the next year.
