Buy-to-let investment is not just about price, investors have been advised.
Those considering buying residential property for rental purposes need to take more into account than how much it costs, including issues such as rental potential and the availability of finance, the manager at buy-to-let mortgages firm Clarity Commercial, Chris Jenkins, has stated.
Mr Jenkins commented: "Buy-to-let properties are an excellent long-term investment provided that the investor buys correctly."
However, it is also important that "due diligence" is carried out, he noted, something that investors may wish to engage legal help to carry out.
The Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla) survey of its members for the first quarter of 2009 showed that landlords are buying more property than they are selling for the first time in two years.
Arla director of operations Ian Potter labelled this a vindication of buy-to-let as a "viable long-term investment vehicle."
