09/09/2009 Falling rents 'raise questions over buy-to-let' |
|
Many buy-to-let landlords may require help to resolve their situations as the financial situation in the industry leaves some questioning their future rep in the industry, it has been claimed.
Residential Landlords Association director Mark Butterworth commented: "The costs and administration involved in renting properties now is having an effect on margins to the point where many are wondering whether they have a future in the market."
He suggested that there is currently too much regulation of the market at a time when opportunities for making capital gains are limited.
Those involved in rental property who are having difficulties with their finances may wish to speak to a property lawyer about their options.
Mr Butterworth's comments follow the publication of data by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors showing that more of its members were expecting falls in rental levels than increases during the second quarter of this year.
However, the balance of 29 per cent was an improvement on the 55 per cent seen in opening three months of the year.
