18/08/2009 Funeral planning may alter wills |
|
The number of funeral plan sales has risen by more than a quarter during the recession, it has been stated. Co-operative Funerals has revealed a 28 per cent rise in sales of such plans in the first half of 2009, something it blames on a fall in confidence in savings and investments that might normally be used to fund these. For people looking to put their money into a funeral plan, it may mean diverting funds away from elsewhere, which could affect the sum total of assets those doing this have. People planning a funeral this way may wish to see a lawyer experienced in will drafting to make any necessary adjustments to the document.
Earlier this month, Warwickshire-based lawyer Martin Green told the Birmingham Post people should consider re-writing their wills as a result of the recession. He noted that the downturn has reduced the value of many people's assets, which will affect the figures in the document. Written by Laurence Smith
