30/04/2009 Good reasons to grow landlord portfolios, says expert |
|
Landlords will have good reasons to want to add to their property portfolios it has been stated.
Managing director of smartlandlord.co.uk Keshav Thukaram said a number of factors will help keep rental levels "stable" through the rest of this year rep, such as a fall in the number people reluctantly renting out homes as the sales market starts to pick up again.
At the same time, he stated, extra rental demand will come from the increased number of people entering self-employment or going into higher education.
"Yields are looking attractive and with the housing market nearing the bottom many landlords are looking at expanding their portfolios," Mr Thukaram stated, while adding that it is wise for those renting out property to insure themselves against tenants becoming unemployed.
Such an insurance strategy was also recommended to investors this week by Young Group.
Those keen on investing in property may wish to see a solicitor to understand the legal issues involved.
