01/02/2010 London house prices see December increase |
|
Values for residential properties in London have seen an increase in December 2009 as part of a nationwide trend towards higher house prices.
New figures from the Land Registry reveal that the average cost of a home in London during the final month of last year was £324,352, an increase of 1.5 per cent on November 2009.
This also represented a 6.1 per cent increase on December 2008, the largest annual price change in the country during a month which saw average national property values rise by 2.5 per cent year-on-year.
The Land Registry report also unveiled figures on housing sales for last October, which showed that the number of people completing deals via a property lawyer has also increased compared to 2008.
Last week, property services website iammoving.com predicted that recent trends towards rising house prices would not lead to a repeat of the "dramatic increases" in the last decade.
