London house prices rose by two per cent in June, new data from the Land Registry has revealed.
The average cost of a home in the capital edged up back past the £300,000 mark, with the increase being greater than that of any other region of England and Wales, increasing from £295,325 to £301,859.
Overall, the national figure saw a 0.1 per cent rise, the first increase seen in over a year.
The Land Registry said that the latest figures indicated that the market is "flattening", which may encourage those seeking to buy a house in London to see a property lawyer as the prospects of price falls in the months ahead appear to be receding.
Property experts CB Richard Ellis also said the market is bottoming out this week, saying it has hit a "trough" and suggesting prices will "fluctuate" around the current level for the next few months.
