24/04/2009 New funding for HomeBuy welcomed |
|
An announcement by chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling of £80 million extra funding towards the HomeBuy Direct scheme has been welcomed.
Mr Darling revealed that 32,000 people had enquired about the scheme designed to assist first-time buyers since last September.
Ricardo Mapp, Senior Solicitor and Ealing Solicitors William Sturges said, "anything the government can do to help first time buyers is welcome. First time buyers are the backbone of the property ladder and they have genuine housing needs".
Further help for the housing market could come with new measures to help increase lending and underpin employment.
Those keen to get on the housing ladder may wish to obtain legal help from a solicitor specialising in residential property to deal with the various processes involved.
As well as the HomeBuy announcement, Mr Darling revealed that the lowest stamp duty threshold will remain at £175,000 for the rest of the year, instead of reverting to £125,000 as previously planned.
