The level of rent being charged in the UK has shown signs of stabilisation, but more evidence will be needed to confirm this, it has been stated.
A survey by FindaProperty.com found that the level of rent asked for stabilised this month, the first time rates had not declined since last August.
Commenting on this, marketing director of property portal Fish4homes Lisa Walker said one month's better figures is insufficient evidence of improvement for landlords, but similar results in the coming months would offer a stronger indication.
"That would certainly indicate that the market may be turning, which would indeed be welcome news for the rental home sector," she stated.
Those keen to invest in rental property at this time may wish to see a solicitor over the legal rights and responsibilities of a landlord.
Property agency Savills has predicted a rise in rents as the supply of homes to let falls over the coming months, with head of lettings at the firm Jane Ingram commenting that "reluctant landlords" are now starting to put their homes back on the market.
