Sales boost may mean more demand for property lawyers
Sales of properties worth £40,000 or more rose in June, HM Revenue and Customs has said.
The body's figures indicated a monthly tally of 75,000, compared with 65,000 in May.
It was the highest total since June 2008 and provides further possible evidence of a rise in activity in the market.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the increase was from 63,000 to 65,000, which still amounted to the largest total since October last year.
Those keen to buy a home themselves may wish to see a property lawyer about the legal aspects of such a transaction.
Jonathan Picken, Head of the specialist residential property department at Westminster law firm, William Sturges & Co said: "Property buyers should instruct a firm that they feel confident will act swiftly on their behalf. At William Sturges we have an experienced team of solicitors who work hard to ensure clients can take advantage of the prevailing market conditions".
Earlier this week, company director at the Little House Company Jane Marr commented that "it is without a doubt still a buyers' market", despite the latest monthly Rightmove survey of asking prices showing that the asking price has risen five times so far this year.
The value for money people are looking for is increasingly being met by sellers, Ms Marr said.
