20/11/2009 Warning over unregulated property firms |
|
Those wishing to invest in the buy-to-let property sector should be wary of unregulated property investment companies, an expert has said.
Investment consultant at property firm Assetz Dan Sawyer stated that many new firms have as the market has started to improve again and a lot of these "don't know what they are doing", as well as being unregulated.
Mr Sawyer stated that now is a good time for people to invest in buy-to-let again, but added: "It is very important that investors go with a good reputable company and just do your research on that company." Those who run into any legal problems with such firms may wish to speak to a property lawyer about their options.
Earlier this week, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors criticised the lack of any legislation in this week's Queens Speech to implement the Rugg report recommendations for more regulation in the sector.
