06/07/2009 £650m will to be contested in court |
|
The estranged son of a wealthy businessman is to contest his £650 million will in court.
Derry McCarthy has issued a protective claim against the estate of Paul Raymond, who made his fortune through adult magazines and property, the Sunday Times reports.
Mr Raymond left all of his assets to his granddaughters India Rose James and Fawn James after his death in 2008.
Few details have been offered about the claim of 58-year-old Mr McCarthy, who is thought to have had little contact with his father.
His half-brother, Howard Raymond, was also left out of the will and it is not known whether he too is considering challenging it.
By seeking help from professional solicitors while will writing, people can help to ensure that their legacy is less open to being contested and that their assets go to the right places.
There has recently been confusion in the US over the will of Michael Jackson, with reports suggesting he may have left more than one of the documents behind.
