One in three older Londoners are set to leave no inheritance when they die, new research has revealed.
A poll by insurance firm Aviva found that 33 per cent of those aged over 55 in the capital do not have plans to provide anything for others to inherit.
This is close to the national figure of 34 per cent and the study found that 57 per cent of those not bequeathing an inheritance cannot afford to.
Such a figure suggests that many who do have the funds to leave something behind have not got plans in place to do so and such people could choose to resolve this by seeing a lawyer skilled in will drafting.
Those who get a will written up need to have it compiled properly, a lawyer has said.
Writing for Neusiness recently, north-east based solicitor Sarah O'Hare stated that some wishes in wills may not be fulfilled if they are stated in a way that is legally unenforceable and added that this is why expert help is needed to draft the document.
