26/08/2009 Warning over will changes |
|
Updating wills is as important as making them in the first place, it has been stated. Worcester-based solicitor Dawn Oliver, who is helping St Richard's Hospice in the town persuade residents to make such documents, noted that the need to keep details accurate is often overlooked. She was quoted by the Berrow Journal as saying: "Many of those people who have made a will don't remember to update it, for example on marriage or divorce or having come into money." Those wishing to update their own documents to account for alterations in circumstances may wish to speak to a lawyer skilled in will drafting to make sure it is up to date. Changing circumstances may be a reason for a large number of people to alter their wills just now, Warwickshire-based solicitor Martin Green stated recently. He told the Birmingham Post that many people will have seen the value of their assets drop because of the recession and this should be reflected by altering the amounts being bequeathed.
