05/11/2009 Wills campaign set to start |
|
Solicitors in Yeovil, Somerset will be pushing a campaign for people to make a will this month.
The campaign follows the disclosure of figures by Will Aid that 60 per cent of Britons have not had such a document drawn up, often because they mistakenly believe their families will automatically inherit their estates, the Yeovil Express reports.
It notes that those most likely to need to have a will tend to be least likely to possess one.
Seeking to raise awareness of this, local lawyers skilled in will writing are offering their services for free for a short time, although people have been asked to make charitable donations.
The Somerset campaign is one of several taking place at the moment, with former chairman of Granada Sir Gerry Robinson teaming up with a legal expert in making a six-part TV series for the BBC seeking to persuade people of the need to make a will.
