Employment
Our specialist employment department advises a diverse range of businesses and institutions on all aspects of employment and discrimination law.
Employers
We draft employment documentation (eg contracts and staff handbooks). We offer new clients a ‘health check’ of employment documentation for a nominal fee to ensure that their documentation properly reflects the frequent changes to the law in this area.
We advise on the growing range of issues that can arise during employment (eg grievances, sickness, maternity, family friendly rights, discipline/ dismissal). Much of our advice is preventative, and clients increasing take legal advice on these issues at an early stage to avoid unnecessary escalation.
We are currently advising numerous companies on redundancy and restructuring as a result of the economic downturn.
We deal with collective employment law, including large scale redundancy and restructuring. We advise on the law relating to trade unions and industrial relations, including trade union recognition, balloting and industrial action.
We deal with all employment issues arising in company sales and purchases, business transfers and re-organisations.
In relation to departing employees, we advise on suspension and garden leave issues, termination of employment, and the enforcement of restrictive covenants and confidentiality provisions.
Members of the department have the expertise and track record of running numerous employment, discrimination and equal pay cases in the Employment Tribunals, County Courts, Employment Appeal Tribunal, High Court, and Court of Appeal.
Employees
We also act for directors, senior executives and City workers in connection with termination of employment, discrimination, whistleblowing, contractual disputes over bonuses and post-termination restrictions.
Seminars and newsletters
We hold seminars and workshops in our offices in Westminster and Ealing, and provide clients with regular newsletters and briefings on changes in the law.
Media
We are frequently called upon by the media to comment on topical employment law and discrimination issues.
