David was admitted as a solicitor in 1969 becoming a partner with Thicknesse and Hull, subsequently Goddens and Thicknesse and joined William Sturges & Co as a partner on the merger of the firms in 1987.

David is one of the few remaining 'general practitioners' and he looks after the legal needs of families and small business both in London and the country. David has valuable 'hands on experience' of business from his chairmanship for many years of Singleton Birch Ltd ( a quarrying manufacturing company).

David is a past chairman of The Arts Club and lives in London.
